About Mara Bio
We founded Mara Bio to tackle a simple but overlooked problem: our food system wastes enormous amounts of nutrition and value. Every year, the food industry produce by-products that are rich in nutrients but are difficult to use, creating both environmental and economic challenges.
We saw an opportunity to recover this lost value through fermentation — converting these by-products into high-quality, functional food ingredients. By closing these loops, we’re helping build a more efficient, resilient, and sustainable food system. Mara Bio exists to prove that smarter, circular solutions can nourish people, reduce waste, and create the future of protein.

Our Long-Term Climate Objective
We intend to become a net climate-positive producer of protein by 2030, where avoided emissions from waste diversion and efficient fermentation outweigh our direct operational footprint.
Mara Bio’s founding team is a great mix of commercial and technical know-how with a passion for turning great science into real-world solutions.
